Hand Therapy

Our certified hand therapist provides innovative treatment for hand, elbow, and shoulder injuries.

Our Services

We provide treatment plans for a wide variety of conditions. Our therapists use heat, cold, fluidotherapy, paraffin wax, and other treatments for your dysfunction/pain. We help you understand your diagnosis while working with you to improve motion, build strength, manage pain, and maximize function. And because immediate treatment is important in many hand, forearm, and elbow injuries, we can treat walk-ins with a physician referral.

Patients We See

We take patients who have been referred by a physician or other referring source and who have had trauma to their upper extremity. Usually it's from the mid humerus down to the fingertip, and it can be any kind of trauma, including crush injuries, fractures, or tendon lacerations. We could see someone who had a nerve entrapment who had a release done or somebody who had a joint knuckle replacement done for bad arthritis in their hand.

Evaluation and Treatment

When someone is referred, we start with our evaluation by measuring the swelling or the edema, the range of motion, and the strength or stability of the joint. Next, we'll see if they have functional use or not through a manual muscle or gripper pinch strength test so that we can develop goals. We will talk to the patient to ask them what their goals are. Then, we employ techniques in order to help, which could include heat or joint mobilization. We teach home exercises and strengthening techniques, and we might make a splint for an acute injury. Treatment depends on what the diagnosis is and what the goals are.

Outstanding Staff

Bill Lee, a patient of Hand and Shoulder Therapy, talks about the staff, "Cindy is very knowledgeable with everything. She's just wonderful. My experience there was great. When you walk in from the time you see Colleen or Sarah, they're just treating you wonderfully. It's almost like family there. Cindy is really special, and she makes you feel like part of the family. You could feel like they really cared about what happened with you and how your progress was going."
